Evidence-Based Therapy

We work primarily with couples and individuals using evidence-based approaches in dealing with relationship issues, separation, anxiety, depression, trauma, disordered eating and ADHD. These evidence-based methods include cognitive behavioral therapy, eye movement desensitization reprocessing (EMDR), emotionally focused therapy (EFT), dialetical behavioural therapy (DBT), psychodynamic, family systems, solution-focused therapy and mindfulness practices.

At Bach Counselling Group, we provide secured telehealth/virtual counselling. What to bring to your first appointment?

To maximize your level of success, come to your first appointment with a list of your medications, any recent blood work, and a record of your eating over the last 3-4 days. If you test your blood sugars, bring your glucometer and/or log. Follow up appointments will be booked during your first session together based on your personal goals.

Bach Counselling brings an expertise to working with those who wish to make a positive change in relationships, intimacy, depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, parenting and eating disorders. We work with individuals and couples who are dealing with issues that may adversely affect their relationships. We strive to help you to achieve your goals.

Our mission is to provide high quality trauma informed counselling to the community. We are dedicated to continued training in evidence-based practices and with this, bring our clients to more joy, peace and fulfilling relationships.

Our Counsellors



Heather Bach, MA, CCC - Clinical Director

Heather Bach brings 20 years of experience and training to her role as the Clinical Director of the Bach Counselling Centre. Holding a Master’s in Psychology, she is a Certified Canadian Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association and a Certified Relationship Specialist (CRS) with the American Psychotherapy Association. Cited as an expert in the media, Heather has appeared on radio and television and has been the subject of numerous interviews. She has developed treatment programs and supervised and guided many students in counselling.

Heather has also designed and developed the North Shore Program for Children Affected by Family Violence. She has specialized in the treatment of trauma in women, men, and children.

Heather has designed and facilitated various therapeutic groups including those for women in abusive relationships and for those dealing with disordered eating. Heather is a regular guest speaker at events and forums that focus on emotional eating focusing on the relationship between emotional eating and interpersonal intimacy.

Her work with couples fosters greater understanding and more deeply fulfilling connections between partners and among family members. Through her education and experience, Heather strives to meet the goals and needs of the client.

Alex Oosterom MA, RCC, Clinical Counsellor

Alex is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with a Master of Arts in Psychology. Cognitive behavioural and solution-focused therapies along with mindfulness are Alex’s primary approaches in working with clients. Alex works with individuals, couples, and families using therapy to build resiliency and overcome barriers for those struggling with depression, anxiety, mood dis-regulation, family relationships, ADHD, grief, and social relationships. With a solid foundation in her own meditation practice, Alex uses mindfulness to teach solutions to stress and anxiety through calming the mind and body. She assists clients to build their confidence and identity formation through life transitions. Alex has counselled a variety of clients including those dealing with autism and developmental challenges and disabilities.

Vanessa Rouzier MA, RCC, Clinical Counsellor

Vanessa is a Registered Counsellor bringing over 10 years of experience working with individuals, couples and families. With a Master of Science in Psychoeducation. Vanessa counsels individuals and families struggling with diverse mental health issues. She uses a combination of evidence-based therapies including cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused, collaborative and mindfulness approach through an attachment-based perspective. Vanessa treats anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, stress management, self-esteem, relationship issues, social skills, emotion management, ADHD, communication and parenting issues.
