This is a common question for most women wanting to spot reduce. I want to create some clarity for you: you cannot reduce an area by repeatedly exercising it. Let me repeat that. You cannot reduce an area by repeatedly exercising it. I realize for many this is tough news to hear. You only lose fat by burning off more calories than you eat. And the fat that disappears does so from all over the body. Like a Popsicle melting in the sun, it slowly gets smaller in all directions.
Of course you can be active and walk your dog, cut your own grass and take the stairs instead of the elevator at work. This is active living! But for most of you, you are looking at incorporating specific exercises into your workout regimen to improve your physique and feel better. The best exercises are strength training along with aerobic exercise – combined with a slight or moderate caloric restriction. A well rounded exercise program exercising all muscle groups is important to create a balanced body. Again, the key is enjoying your consistent exercise program. Having fun with your workouts, adding variety to the exercises, making fitness friendships and living by design instead of default will make your health and fitness journey miraculous. And those thighs will get toned and lean before you know it!
